Mr. Solomon joined AUA in 2007. He started his tenure with AUA as an American Heart Association instructor within the AUA Emergency Medicine Training Centre (EMTC). In his time with us, he has worked to advance the EMTC’s programs to include courses in paramedicine. While working to establish our first state-of-the-art Clinical Skills and Simulation Lab, Director of Clinical Simulations was added to his area of responsibility. As Director of Clinical Simulations, he continues to work with our Clinical Medicine team to expand Sim practices while also representing the University at various international events.

Vernon has completed research on risk factor surveillance and health education programs in small and/or rural communities. He started student led organizations to raise awareness on NCDs, Asthma, and Emergency Medicine, and works closely with students and faculty to raise community awareness on a wide range of health-related topics. He is currently the host of an ABS prime-time television show called Healthy Perspectives. The program aims to empower all Caribbean citizens to tackle today’s most pressing health challenges, while fighting to end health inequalities.

With a further appointment of Vice President of Administration and Community Affairs, Vernon continues to represent the President in AUA-Antiguan government relations, the Antigua campus’ administration, and expansion projects, ensuring the areas remain aligned with the academic goals of the institution, while also ensuring an enhanced campus experience for all AUA students. Mr. Solomon currently holds the position of Executive Director of the University Wellness Center.
