Mission – The University Counseling Center (UCC) addresses the psychological, social, emotional, and developmental needs of a diverse population of AUA students, faculty, and staff through a commitment to provide counseling and preventive services. In alignment with the AUA mission, the UCC also provides a supportive environment to enhance all students’ potential for academic success.

FAQ
- What are the hours of the University Counseling Center? Answer: The UCC is open Monday through Friday from 9:00am to 6:00pm.
- How do I schedule an appointment? Answer: Appointments can be made online at https://auamed.medicatconnect.com/ or you can reach out to the UCC via email at UCC@auamed.net
- What is the cost for a counseling appointment? Answer: All billing and fees are handled by the University Health Clinic (UHC).
- 50-minute psychiatry appointments are US$160
- 50-minute counseling appointments are US$140
- 30-minute psychiatry and counseling appointments are US$75
- ALL No Shows or Late Cancellations are US$50, which is not covered by insurance.

- How long are the appointments? Answer: The appointments are either 30-minutes or 50-minutes, with the exception of “Check-up from the Neck-Up” which is 15-minutes.
- How do I cancel the appointment? Answer: Log into https://auamed.medicatconnect.com/ and click on your scheduled appointment. You can cancel your appointment online. You can also send an email to ucc@auamed.net to cancel your appointment.
- Where do I go to get my prescription filled? (right after seeing the psychiatrist) Answer: Prescriptions can be filled at the UHC Pharmacy.
- I am out of/running low on medication and Dr. Joseph’s next available appointment is far away. Would the Health Clinic’s doctor be able to write me a prescription in the meantime? Answer: It would depend on the type of medication. It is important to monitor your prescription to avoid running out at the last minute.
- I need my counseling records. How do I get them? Answer: You can request your counseling records by completing a Release of Information https://tinyurl.com/UCCROIForm
- Is there a fee for Group Counseling? Answer: Group Counseling sessions are FREE.
- Is there a fee for Counseling Workshops? Answer: Counseling Workshops are FREE.
- Am I able to change counselors? Answer: It depends. You must complete a transfer request and await approval. https://tinyurl.com/thecounselortransferform
- May I request test accommodations from the UCC? Answer: Requests for test accommodations must go through the Office of Student Affairs – StudentAccommodations@auamed.net.
