Dr. Gilbert-Charles is a licensed General Practitioner in Antigua and Barbuda since January 2012. She is a proud alumna of the Immaculate Conception High School in Jamaica. She completed her tertiary studies at the University of the West Indies, Mona, Jamaica. Dr. Gilbert-Charles graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and Molecular Biology in 2003; and went on to complete her medical training in 2010. She has received post-graduate certifications in Leadership and Management in Healthcare, Management of HIV/AIDS, and Epidemiology in Healthcare. After completing her medical training, she did her Internship at the Princess Margaret Hospital in Nassau, Bahamas. She subsequently transitioned to Antigua, where she spent two years at the Mount St. John’s Medical Centre working as a House Officer in Internal Medicine and Emergency Medicine. The majority of her 13-year medical career was spent as a District Medical Officer (DMO), with the Ministry of Health, Antigua. During her time as a DMO, she had the privilege of caring for all demographics within her community. She is a professional and compassionate physician, who believes in equity in healthcare delivery. Dr. Gilbert-Charles currently holds the position of PRN Campus Physician at the University Health Clinic.
